what are the types of surface finishes for marble and granite
In the previous article, we mentioned the commonly stone surface finishing methods. Today we will talk about the stone non-slip surface finished methods.
1.Acid washing
The acid washing surface achieves the visual effect by corroding the stone surface with strong acid. The treated stone will have smaller corrosion marks on the surface, which looks more pristine than the polished surface, and the strong acid will not affect the interior of the stone.
This process is usually used in marble and limestone, and has good anti-slip properties. It is widely used in toilets, kitchens, roads and so on, and it is also used to soften the luster of granite.

2.Flamed
Flamed surface refers to the rough surface finish processed by using acetylene and oxygen as fuel or propane and oxygen as fuel, or using high temperature flame produced by liquefied petroleum gas and oxygen as fuel to process the stone surface.
The flamed surface has certain requirements on the marble thickness. Generally, the thickness of the stone is at least 20mm and the surface is crystallized to prevent the stone from cracking during the processing.
3.Waterblasted
The stone surface is processed and washed with a waterjet machine, showing unevenness, but the surface is smooth and without edges and corners, similar to the pickled surface, the surface color is close to the acid washing surface, slightly darker than it, and the water absorption rate is small.

4.Bush hammered
The bush hammered surface is made by hitting the granite surface with a hammer shaped like a lychee skin. After treatment, the stone surface will form a rough surface shaped like a lychee skin. This kind of processing method can be divided into two types: machined surface and hand-laid surface (manual). Generally speaking, hand-laid surface is denser than machined one, but they are more laborious and the price is higher.

5.Rough picked
The rough picked surface refers to process the stone surface to be more uneven than bush hammered surface, and the graininess is more obvious. The texture of the material is just the opposite of the waterblasted, with weaker unevenness and large graininess.

In the next article,we will talk about the decorative surface finishing, welcome to follow us for more info.
