What are the surface finishing methods for marble?

Marble Stone surface finishing refers to the use of different processing treatments on the surface of the stone under the condition of ensuring the safety of the stone, so that it presents different material styles to meet various design requirements.

So, what are common stone surface processing methods in the industry?

According to actual applications, it can be divided into three categories:

First,conventional surface finishing,such as polished, honed,etc.;

Second,non-slip surface finishing,acid-wash,flamed,water-jet,bush-hammered,rough picked,etc.

Third,decorative surface finishing,such as antique,mushroom,natural,sand-blasted,acid washing,etc.

Now Let me introduce to you one by one.

Conventional surface finishing

Polished surface

Polished surface refers to the veneer made by rough grinding, fine grinding, and fine grinding of a flat plate with abrasives, and polishing with polishing powder.The surface is as bright as a mirror, brightly colored, with few and small pores.

It usually can be 80, 90 degrees,which is characterized by high luminosity and strong reflection of light, which can often fully display the rich and gorgeous color and natural texture of the stone itself.

Honed surface

Honed surface means that the surface is flat, and less polishing treatment is performed on the surface with resin abrasives.Its luminosity is lower than polished surface, generally around 30-60 degree.

Stones that have undergone honed surface finishing usually have a certain degree of luminosity, but the reflection of light is weak. It is a flat and smooth surface, but with low luminosity.
