How to use a Marble Polishing Powder FOR Marble Care

Etch Marks can really ruin the beautiful look of a marble surface. Luckily marble polishing powder can easily remove these annoying marks with relative ease. This article reviews and details the use of Marble Polishing Powder. Once you have read this buyers guide you will know how to remove marble etch marks quickly and easily and which tools you will need to get the job done!

The Problem: Marble Etch Marks

Marble is made up of calcium carbonate which violently reacts with any acidic agent. So unfortunately, when acids touch marble , the acids almost instantly create light dull marks called etch marks in a matter of seconds.

Etch marks typically show up as light dull marks because when the acid reacts with the marble surface it physically dissolves part of the top surface of the marble. Once part of the marble is dissolved, marble below the surface is exposed. This newly exposed marble is not polished and therefore looks dull compared to its great looking polished surroundings,

What is a marble polishing powder?

This powder helps you to restore the gloss to marble floors and surfaces. Most of the marble polishing brands benefit from high-tech solutions and their products deliver the wet and gloss looks on the application area. Also, you can use this kind of powder for limestone and travertine floors and surfaces, as well.

How to Apply It?

Warning: Use protective gloves while applying this powder and do not inhale. Also, avoid too much water.

Step 1 - Choose Cleaning and Polishing Products

Step 2 - Wash before Polishing

The thing you should do is to remove the offenders from the area where you will apply the polishing powder. If you apply it without removing the stains or dust, you will directly draw the attention to the stain or dirt by making the dirty spot shinier and more noticeable.

Step 3 - Begin from the Middle

Whether using chalk or a chemical polish, start from the middle. If using chalk, dampen a micro-fiber cloth then dip into the powdered chalk. If using a chemical polish, place a dime-sized amount onto the middle of the floor to start with.

Step 4 - Buff in Circles

Using a cloth or polishing pad, buff in circles. Move slowly to the right, then the left. Come back to the middle, working your way up then down. If you are cleaning a large room, work this way in small sections. Add more polish as necessary

Step 5 - Allow to Dry

If using a chemical polish, marble should be beautifully clear after it air dries.
